The Madison Club Foundation Harvest Ball 2006 raises more than $40,000 for Second Harvest's Kids Cafe Program

The Madison Club Foundation's Second Annual Charity Gala was held on Saturday, October 21; over $40,000 was raised to benefit the Second Harvest Foodbank's Kids Cafe program at the Dane County Boys & Girls Clubs.

"This event was a wonderful opportunity to help the Kids Café program at the Dane County Boys & Girls Club and because we beat our goal, the program will be fully funded for the next two years and can buy additional equipment and supplies for the new kitchen at the Allied Drive Boys & Girls Club," said Jim Greer, President of the Madison Club Foundation. "Thanks to our major sponsor, Quarles & Brady, and all the other sponsors and volunteers who recognized the valuable contributions this program makes to the Dane County and Madison Community."

Second Harvest's Kids Cafe program is one of the nation's largest charitable meal programs exclusively for children in need. The program provides a safe, respectful environment where youth can receive wholesome meals, nutrition education and academic & recreational activities. The Kids Cafe at the Boys and Girls Club of Dane County was established in March 2000 and provides one hot meal a day, six days a week, to 150 kids during the school year and serves approximately 400 kids daily in the summer. The money we raised at this event will fully fund meals at the Boys & Girls Club Kids Cafe at the Taft Street and Allied Drive locations for more than two years. These proceeds will also be used to purchase food and other equipment and supplies that are needed for the commercial kitchen at the new Allied Drive Boys & Girls Club location.
